Spotting mentions of your competitors
Track competitors with aliases and a domain, and pick up brands that AI systems name alongside you from “Entdeckte Wettbewerber”.
Last updated 23 days ago
The Competitors page shows how often AI systems name your competitors in your monitoring answers, right next to your own brand. This article explains how to add, maintain, and remove competitors, and how to pick up new brands from the answers.
Tracked competitors and your own brand
You’ll find the page in the sidebar under Competitors, in the Sichtbarkeit (Visibility) group. At the top are two tabs: Getrackte Wettbewerber (Tracked competitors) and Entdeckte Wettbewerber (Discovered competitors).
On the Getrackte Wettbewerber tab, your own brand always appears in the table, marked Du (You). Each row shows:
- Name, with a logo
- Erwähnungsrate (Mention rate): the share of completed monitoring answers from the last 30 days in which the name or an alias appears as a standalone term. The rank, such as #1, sits in front of it. Hover over it to see the number of answers with a mention.
- Website: the domain on record
- Aliase (Aliases): how many aliases are on record
- Hinzugefügt (Added): the date the competitor was added
You can’t change the 30-day period here. If you arrive through a link from the Scoreboard, however, the period and filters selected there apply. The notice “Aus der Overview: …” (From the overview) points this out, and Overview-Auswahl zurücksetzen (Reset overview selection) takes you back to the last 30 days. The table is ordered by rank. You can also sort by Name, Website, and Hinzugefügt. If your prompts have topics or tags, narrow the table with the Thema (Topic) and Tags filters. Clicking a competitor’s row opens the head-to-head comparison with your brand.
Note: Tracked competitors only affect monitoring, for example the Erwähnungslücke (Mention gap) column in the prompts table. They have no influence on the market comparison behind your KI Score. There, the Marken (Brands) filter merely lets you narrow the list to the brands you track.
If a tracked competitor’s mention rate rises sharply after a measurement, the bell at the top right of the Scoreboard shows “Erwähnungsrate von … ist gestiegen” (Mention rate of … has increased). To learn when this notification appears, see Reading notifications in the Scoreboard.
Adding a competitor
- Open Competitors in the sidebar.
- Click Wettbewerber hinzufügen (Add competitor). A form opens on the right.
- Enter the brand name under Name. This field is required.
- Enter the competitor’s domain under Domain (optional).
- Enter other spellings under Aliase (kommagetrennt, optional) (Aliases, comma-separated, optional).
- If needed, assign the competitor to specific topics and tags of your prompts under Themen (Topics) and Tags. Without an assignment, it applies to all of them.
- Click Tracken (Track).
Tip: For ideas, click Vorschläge laden (Load suggestions) under KI-Vorschläge (AI suggestions) in the form. Clicking a suggestion fills in the name, domain, and aliases. Suggestions don’t cost any credits. There’s no limit on the number of competitors.
Maintaining aliases and the domain
AI answers often name brands in abbreviated form or with a different spelling. A mention only counts when the name or an alias appears as a standalone term in the answer text. So add common abbreviations and spelling variants as aliases.
The domain links citations to the competitor. In Sources, it appears as a competitor domain, subdomains included, once you remove the Nur Drittquellen (Third-party sources only) filter there. In the head-to-head comparison it produces the citation rate. It also supplies the website link and logo. Without a domain, the competitor’s citation rate stays unknown.
To change a competitor:
- Open the actions menu at the end of the row.
- Choose Bearbeiten (Edit).
- Adjust the name, domain, aliases, or the assignment to topics and tags.
- Click Speichern (Save).
Note: Metrics are always calculated with the current competitor list. New or changed aliases and domains therefore also change the values for past answers.
The Du row has Bearbeiten too. There you can change your own brand’s name and aliases. Your domain comes from your website address and can’t be changed here.
Picking up discovered competitors
The Entdeckte Wettbewerber tab shows the brands that an AI analysis of your monitoring answers from the last 30 days has detected and that you don’t track yet. Nennungsrate (Mention rate) is the share of analyzed answers in which the brand was detected. Genannt in (Named in) shows the number of answers with the brand relative to all analyzed answers, and Zuletzt gesehen (Last seen) the date of its latest mention. Answers that haven’t been analyzed yet don’t count. Load more brands with Mehr laden (Load more) at the end of the list.
- Open the Entdeckte Wettbewerber tab.
- Click Tracken in the brand’s row. The form opens with the name and, if known, the domain.
- Check the domain and add aliases.
- Click Tracken.
The brand then appears under Getrackte Wettbewerber. Its Erwähnungsrate is based on matching the name and aliases in the text, so it may differ from the earlier Nennungsrate.
To pick up the brands shown all at once, click Alle tracken (Track all) at the top of the tab (with the number of brands; if not all of them are loaded yet, the button reads “… geladene tracken”, track … loaded) and confirm with Tracken in the dialog. KI Score takes over the detected domain. Names and aliases that already exist are skipped.
If the tab is empty, either no answers have been analyzed yet, or you already track every detected brand.
Removing a competitor
- Open the actions menu at the end of the row.
- Choose Entfernen (Remove).
- Confirm with Entfernen in the dialog.
To remove several competitors, select their rows with the checkboxes and click Löschen (Delete) in the bar at the bottom of the screen. Then confirm with Entfernen in the dialog. You can’t remove your own brand.
Removing a competitor permanently deletes it along with its domain and aliases, and it can’t be undone. Existing answers are kept, but mentions no longer count for it, and the AI analysis lists it as a discovered brand again. To keep a copy, select the rows first and click Exportieren (Export) in the bar. You’ll get the file wettbewerber-YYYY-MM-DD.csv with the name, mention rate, website, and aliases.
