Understanding your first KI Score
When your first KI Score appears, what the status card and the first look show, and when a provisional score becomes a regular one.
Last updated 23 days ago
Your first KI Score isn't ready right after onboarding. This article explains when it appears, what the KI Score page shows until then, and how to tell the first look, the provisional score, and the regular score apart.
When your first KI Score appears
The KI Score doesn't come from your own prompts but from a central market measurement. It measures your market, meaning the combination of one offering and one geographic market, with the same question set for all brands. A market measurement is spread over two measurement days three days apart, on Monday and Thursday, and doesn't cost any credits. Your first complete KI Score appears as soon as both measurement days have been evaluated.
When your market is measured depends on your plan:
- Advanced, Premium, and Enterprise: your market is measured weekly.
- Essential: your market is measured once a month, in the first measurement week of the month. If another customer on a weekly plan uses the same market, it's measured weekly as well.
You open the KI Score page in the sidebar under Sichtbarkeit (Visibility) with KI-Score. After onboarding, you land directly on this page.
New markets are reviewed first
If KI Score has never measured your market before, the KI Score team reviews it first and approves it manually. While approval is pending, the page shows “Dein KI-Score ist in Vorbereitung” (Your KI Score is being prepared). If your market is already being measured, for example because other customers use it, you're included from the next regular measurement. In both cases, you don't need to do anything.
The status “Deine Marktmessung wird vorbereitet” (Your market measurement is being prepared) appears while your market is being set up and the measurement is being prepared. It doesn't mean that your market is still waiting for approval.
What the status card shows
As long as there's no KI Score yet, the KI Score page shows a status card. At the top, “Dein Vergleichsmarkt” (Your comparison market) names your market, followed by the state of the measurement, for example “Dein Markt wird gemessen” (Your market is being measured) or “Zweiter Messtag geplant” (Second measurement day scheduled).
The text below depends on how far the measurement has progressed:
- The measurement is already running: The card shows the share of answers already received, for example “60 % der Antworten liegen vor.” (60% of the answers are in.), and displays it as a bar. It also names the next step, such as the scheduled second measurement day.
- No measurement progress yet: The card names the weekday and date from which your first KI Score is expected to appear, or the next regular measurement window. If no date has been set yet, it says: “Dein erster KI-Score erscheint hier, sobald deine Messung ausgewertet ist.” (Your first KI Score will appear here as soon as your measurement has been evaluated.)
Each of these texts ends with the sentence “Deine eigenen Prompts kannst du schon nutzen.” (You can already use your own prompts.) With Markt bearbeiten (Edit market), you can adjust your comparison market if needed. Your own monitoring is independent of the market measurement, and your own prompts don't change your KI Score.
The first look after the first measurement day
After the first measurement day, a value can already appear next to KI-Score in the sidebar before the KI Score page shows a score. That's the first look: a private raw value from the first half of the measurement, without three-week smoothing. It isn't citable, and until then the KI Score page keeps showing the status card.
Use the first look as an early orientation, not as a result to share. After the second measurement day, the complete weekly value replaces the first look.
From provisional to regular score
The score shown is the average of the counted measurements from the last three calendar weeks, meaning the current week and the two before it. As long as your market's measurement series contains fewer than three counted measurements, the score is provisional. It's then based on only one or two measurements.
How long that takes depends on the measurement rhythm:
| Plan | Measurement | Until three measurements are available |
|---|---|---|
| Advanced, Premium, Enterprise | weekly | about three weeks |
| Essential | monthly | about three months |
On Essential, the three-week window only contains one measurement, so the score shown is practically unsmoothed. If another customer on a weekly plan uses the same market, your market is measured weekly, and it goes faster on Essential too. If your market's measurement series already contains three counted measurements, for example because the market was measured before you started, this phase doesn't apply.
The Veränderung (Change) column in the Marktvergleich (Market comparison) widget also needs several measurements. Until then, it shows “neu” (new) or “Kalibrierung ausstehend” (calibration pending).
The value next to “KI-Score” in the sidebar
Next to KI-Score in the sidebar, you see the KI Score of your primary market. That's the market that carries the “Vergleichsmarkt” (Comparison market) badge in the market profile. As long as there's no complete weekly value yet, you see the private raw value from the first look there.
The sidebar only shows the number, without a trend icon. Whether your KI Score has clearly changed is shown by the Veränderung column on the KI Score page.
What teams say about KI Score
“We finally see week by week where our brand shows up in ChatGPT and Perplexity.”
“The score finally gave us one number the whole team actually understands.”
“Instead of guessing which prompts matter, we now have real data.”
“Within the first week we already saw which competitor was beating us in AI answers.”
“Setup took one afternoon, not weeks of onboarding.”
“Finally a tool that takes AI Overviews as seriously as classic SEO.”
