Reading source gaps and the sources in your market
The “Quellen in deinem Markt” card on the KI Score page shows which sources shape your market and where the strongest competitor is backed more often than you are.
Last updated 11 days ago
The KI Score page shows which sources the AI answers about your market name and which brands those sources back. This article explains the Quellen in deinem Markt (Sources in your market) card with its three tabs, and how to read its values correctly.
You reach the page in the sidebar through the KI-Score entry under Sichtbarkeit (Visibility). The card refers to the selected market and one measurement week. The market and week are shown in the info icon next to the title.
The three tabs
- Lücken (Gaps): external sources that back the strongest competitor more often than your brand, in at least two answers. The list is sorted by Vorsprung (Lead).
- Externe Quellen (External sources): all external source domains in the measurement, including those without a brand attribution. The gaps are a subset of them.
- Markenwebsites (Brand websites): your own website, confirmed and suspected websites of the brands in the market, and the domains of your tracked competitors. A brand website only counts for its own brand and never as a gap.
The number on each tab gives its entry count. For longer lists, the table first shows ten entries; use Alle anzeigen (Show all) to see the rest.
The list of gaps is a measurement finding. It does not prove that your brand is missing from these websites, and appearing there doesn't automatically raise your KI Score. If KI Score finds no gaps, the tab reads Keine Quellenlücken erkannt (No source gaps identified).
The columns
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Domain | The source, with its type for known platforms, such as review site or news |
| Vorsprung (Lead) | Under Lücken only: how much more often the source backs the strongest competitor than you |
| Häufigkeit (Frequency) | Under Externe Quellen and Markenwebsites: how often the AI answers name the source, including without a brand attribution |
| Du (You) | How often the source backs your brand |
| Stärkster Wettbewerber (Strongest competitor) | The competitor the source backs most often, with its value |
| Belegte Marken (Supported brands) | Up to three brands the source backs, with “+” and the number of further brands when there are more |
Under Markenwebsites, the columns are Marke (Brand), Domain, and Häufigkeit instead. Your own brand carries the Du badge there, and an unconfirmed website is marked “vermutet” (inferred).
Click a column header to re-sort the table. A few things help when reading it:
- Values appear as bars, not as answer counts. Under Lücken and Externe Quellen, the most frequent external source fills the whole bar; under Markenwebsites, the most cited brand website does.
- Gaps and external sources share the same scale, so switching between those two tabs doesn't change the bars.
- An empty bar only means there was no evidence in this measurement. It says nothing about whether your brand appears on the website.
When a source backs a brand
A source backs a brand when the answer names it in the same sentence or list item as the brand, for example as a footnote or a link. A link whose link text starts with the brand's name also counts. A source list that sits next to several brands is not attributed to each of those brands across the board. A brand's own website only counts for that brand. KI Score resolves Google redirect links to the actual page.
Note: Citations are observed measurement findings. They don't feed directly into the KI Score and don't guarantee an improvement in your score.
Why Sources and this card differ
The Sources page and the Quellen in deinem Markt card show different data:
- Quellen in deinem Markt comes from the market measurement of your market, in which all brands are measured with the same question set. This view uses no data from your private monitoring.
- Sources is based on your monitoring, meaning the answers to your own prompts from the AI providers you selected there.
A source can therefore appear often in one view and rarely or not at all in the other. The two views complement each other: the card on the KI Score page shows the source landscape of the whole market, Sources shows the source landscape of your own questions.
