What to do in your first 30 days
A week-by-week checklist for your first month with KI Score, matched to the 30-day free trial on the Essential plan.
Last updated 11 days ago
This checklist walks you through your first month with KI Score, one week at a time. It is built around the trial on the Essential plan: 30 days with 150 credits. By the end, you will know whether your plan fits your needs.
Week 1: schedule, AI providers, and credits
After onboarding, KI Score automatically starts a first monitoring run with the AI providers “ChatGPT” and “Google AI Overview”. After that, your monitoring measures on your schedule, which for new websites is weekly on Mondays at around 6 a.m. (Europe/Berlin). Check these settings before the first scheduled run:
- In the sidebar, click Schedule.
- Under Frequency, check that Weekly is selected. The line “Next measurement” shows the next scheduled time, and the time of day is listed under Options.
- Under AI providers, select your providers. Essential allows up to three.
- Click Save schedule. The confirmation dialog shows what one measurement costs and roughly how many credits you'll use per month. Confirm with Save for free.
- Click Measure once if you don't want to wait for the next scheduled run.
Work out your credit budget first. A run costs your active prompts × the selected AI providers, and every run is charged separately. If a prompt has several measurement countries, each country counts like a separate prompt. A weekly schedule gives you 4 or 5 runs in 30 days, plus the first run after onboarding. With 10 prompts with one measurement country each, that first run costs 20 credits with the two default providers. If you then select 3 AI providers, each further run costs 30 credits. After four weekly runs, you have used 140 of your 150 credits, so a fifth scheduled run would be skipped. A run started with Measure once does not replace a scheduled run; it is charged on top. Choose fewer prompts, measurement countries, or AI providers if you want every scheduled run to take place or also want to measure manually.
Week 1: go through your Site Health results
The Site Health page shows your website's AI readiness: whether AI systems can technically access, read, and cite your website. The first analysis starts automatically after onboarding. It doesn't use any credits.
- In the sidebar, under the Actions group, click Site Health. If there's no analysis yet, start one with Start analysis.
- Once the analysis is done, open the Tasks tab. It contains your website's open items, essential ones first.
- Pass the items on to your development team, for example with Copy fix for one item or Copy fix prompt for all of them.
After you make changes to your website, run the check again with Analyze again. Site Health does not measure your visibility and does not feed into the KI Score.
Week 2: maintain competitors and aliases
After the first runs, you can see which brands the AI mentions. Monitoring metrics are always calculated using your current list of brands, aliases, competitors, and domains. That means your changes also apply to answers that are already stored.
- In the sidebar, under the Setup group, click Competitors.
- Open the Discovered competitors tab. It shows brands from your answers that you are not tracking yet.
- Next to a relevant brand, click Track.
- In the panel, enter the Domain (optional) and the Aliases (comma-separated, optional).
- Click Track.
To add other brands, use Add competitor. Aliases are alternative spellings, such as abbreviations, that count when a brand is detected in the answer text. Add them for your own brand too: in the Tracked competitors tab, open your brand's action menu and choose Edit.
Tip: Add a domain for every competitor. The form puts it this way: “Without a domain, the citation rate stays unknown.”
Week 3: review sources and answers
After two or three runs, you have enough material for a first review. On each page, set the time period to the last 30 days.
- The Overview in the Scoreboard folder gives you the overview: answers, mention rate, citation rate, share of voice, and average position, plus the values per model and topic.
- Responses in the Prompts folder shows the stored AI answers in full. Filter by prompt or model with Add filter and pay attention to the Mentioned column. Focus on answers that don't mention your brand, and check who the AI names instead.
- Sources shows which domains and pages the AI cites. The Type column categorizes each source, for example as Own domain, Competitor domain, Directory, or Review site. Citation rate shows how often a source is cited. Click a row to open its details.
Frequently cited directories, review sites, and third-party sources are good starting points for your own actions.
Week 4: check your credits and confirm your plan
- In the sidebar, open Settings → Billing.
- Check Credits available and Credits used in this period.
- Open the Usage tab to review your usage in the Credit log.
If your balance drops below 20% of your allowance, you receive the email “Your credits are running low” once. In addition, the bell on the Overview page notifies you when 80, 90, and 100% of your credits are used. You can't buy additional credits. You only get more credits with a new billing period or a larger plan.
There is nothing you need to confirm: after 30 days, your subscription continues at the regular price unless you cancel. If you need more credits, websites, markets, or AI providers, switch plans with Manage billing. The button opens the Stripe customer portal, where you can also cancel. You'll find prices on the plans page.
Keep realistic expectations for your KI Score. On Essential, it is measured once a month. So in your first 30 days you will usually have one value at most, and it stays provisional for about three months. Advanced, Premium, and Enterprise measure weekly.
