Spotting new sources in a time period

How to spot newly emerging sources in Sources using the trend line, the time period, and the “Erstmals im Zeitraum” column.

Last updated 23 days ago

This article shows how to use Sources to find out which sources are newly being cited in your monitoring answers. KI Score doesn't send notifications or alerts about new sources. The bell in the Scoreboard reports other events, such as credit thresholds or failed measurements. You find new sources by checking in yourself on a regular basis, and the tools below make that quicker.

Reading the 8-week trend

The Verlauf (trend) column in the sources table shows a small line for each domain or page: the weekly citation rate over the last 8 weeks. Hover over it to see the individual weekly values.

  • The line always covers the last 8 weeks, regardless of the time period you've selected.
  • A week without any monitoring answers is left as a gap. It isn't a drop to 0%.
  • A source that sat at 0% earlier and has been climbing in recent weeks is a typical candidate for a new source.

If the column is hidden, turn it back on under Spalten (Columns).

Comparing time periods

Above the table, under Zeitraum (Time period), you choose a preset: Letzte 7 Tage, Letzte 14 Tage, Letzte 30 Tage (last 7, 14, or 30 days), or Gesamter Zeitraum (All time). You can also mark your own range in the calendar. Either way, you confirm your selection with Übernehmen (Apply). Days with a measurement carry a dot there.

  1. Open Sources in the sidebar.
  2. Select Domains or Seiten (Pages) at the top.
  3. Set the time period to Letzte 30 Tage and sort by Zitationsrate (Citation rate) or Antworten (Answers).
  4. Note the entries at the top.
  5. Switch the time period to Gesamter Zeitraum or pick a longer range in the calendar, and compare.

A source that ranks high over the last 30 days but noticeably lower, or not at all, over the longer period has only recently started being cited more often.

Note: Values are calculated using your current domain and competitor lists. If you change those details, the values for past answers change as well.

“Erstmals im Zeitraum” in the detail panel

Clicking a row opens the source's detail panel. You can change the time period there too, using the same date picker. Your choice also applies to the sources table.

  1. In the Domains view, click a domain.
  2. In the panel, open the URLs tab.
  3. Read the Erstmals im Zeitraum (First seen in period) column.

This column shows the day on which a URL from this domain was first cited in an answer within the selected time period. A date late in the period points to a new page. The table is sorted by the number of answers, so new URLs often appear further down.

Tip: “Erstmals im Zeitraum” refers only to the selected time period. To check whether a URL is truly new, switch the panel to Gesamter Zeitraum. If the date stays the same, the URL is appearing in your monitoring data for the first time.

The URLs tab is only available in the Domains view. In the Seiten view, each row is already a single URL. The panel also shows the Zitationsrate im Zeitverlauf (Citation rate over time) card covering the last 12 weeks.

Saving filters for regular checks

So you don't have to set everything up again for each check, save the table's settings. A saved filter for the sources table remembers, among other things, whether you're looking at domains or pages, the time period, the filters, the sort order, and the order and visibility of the columns. A preset such as Letzte 30 Tage stays relative to the current day, while a range picked in the calendar stays fixed.

  1. Set up the table the way you want, for example Letzte 30 Tage with the Verlauf column visible.
  2. Click Gespeicherte Filter (Saved filters).
  3. Choose Aktuelle Filter speichern (Save current filters).
  4. Enter a name and click Speichern (Save).

Note: Saved filters are stored only in this browser. They aren't visible to your team or on other devices.
